Are you looking for an exciting new challenge? We are always ready to welcome new members to our family. 

Here are some of the requirements:

  • Be at least 18 years of age and able to pass a physical
  • Complete a NYS Firefighter Course (either Interior Firefighter Level 1, or if you are only interested in in providing EMS and Scene Support, Exterior Firefighter/Scene Support)
  • Become NYS certified as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

While these are just some of the basic requirements, you will constantly receive training year-round at weekly drills that are held on Wednesday mornings and Wednesday evenings. New firefighters serve a probationary period of at least one year or until they have completed their Firefighter I and EMT course.

Minimum Requirements

To be an Active Firefighter:

  • 18 years old
  • NY state driver’s license
  • High school diploma or GED

To be a Junior Firefighter:

  • 16 years old
  • NY state driver’s license

Must live in South Line Fire District or in close proximity.
