On November 18th, 2014, South Cheektowaga was pummeled by a lake effect snow storm. The storm dumped over 7 feet of snow in about 24 hours, and left many of our residents trapped in their houses. Firefighters spent 7 days at the firehouse away from their families, answering over 300 calls during the storm. Mutual Aid Firefighting Resources were received from River Road, Sheridan Park, Grand Island, Brighton, Bennington, Niagara Active, Wilson, Albion, Saulsbury, Cohockton, Cedarville, Tallman, Virgil, Suffern Hose, Guilderland Center, and Ridgeway. Citizen support was received from River Road F.D. Ladies Auxiliary, Shawnee Snow Chiefs, Corey Lee, and Snow Groomer Teams. Thank you to all those who supported us during this massive event. Your assistance did not go unnoticed!
